You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

You may have to close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for available about pages).

Hi mynotas, sorry to hear about this problem. What was the sequence here: Firefox 74 updated to Firefox 75 and the logins were missing? I'm not sure where the Sync account came into play.

Hi jscher! Thank you for your reply. I formatted the machine, then I installed the version 75 (latest) and then setup sync. The bookmarks retrieval was perfect, but I noticed that no password appear in the list of loggins. So I browse the web and find something about the logins.json, but then I saw than the file is empty.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Hi mynotas, I'm glad you were able to recover your bookmarks from Sync but I'm puzzled why the logins were not recovered. I think usually both are synchronized by default?

Since you formatted the machine, I am skeptical of any possibility of data recovery from local files, but I'm not a Mac person so maybe there is some hope of that after all.

Hi cor-el,

I really appreciate your response. With that extension, I recovered part of the information (passwords and logins). I cannot guarantee that was ALL the information, I suspect that something is missing, but at least I retrieved some important information.

I don't know how secure is the extension, it's not Mozilla Official but it's open source. Also it solved my problem.

Finally, it's very frustrating this issue, and I would love to have more information to submit to Mozilla developers. I love Firefox, but this kind of things that cannot find any documentation on how to resolve the issue, scares users I think.

Again, thank you very much for your feedback and all the participants in this discussion.

Mark Hammond who created this extension is a very active Firefox developer, so this extension shouldn't be a problem.
