need to use scrapbook addon but it only runs on firefox v56 mac, plese advise
Hello, i saved many website pages using scrapbook and firefox mac v56, this addon seems to no longer exists , i was aware that it was not supported in firefox v.quantum but i had no idea it was taken down and woke up to this today.
the addon web-scrapbook seems dodgy, you have to create an account and use a cloud server contradicts the whole idea with scrapbook which was about saving webpages to read them offline.
can anyone ease advise on a solution to this?

Only a tiny number of extensions are enrolled in Mozilla's "Recommended Extensions" program. Those extensions get close human review.
The rest of the extensions get automated (software-based) review for the initial version and each update, and occasional human review.

On the more general subject:
- Going Forward: there are other ways to save pages, including the built-in "Save Page As" feature and add-ons such as SingleFile and Save Page WE.
- Legacy Data: according to what I have read, in your profile folder, you will find a Scrapbook folder that contains dated folders for what you have saved. I don't know whether there is an index page providing a listing of the folders. I don't recall ever using Scrapbook myself. You could copy this folder to a move convenient location such as your Documents folder.

yeah i mentioned i tried that already, i dont see the point in having a online account to save web info offline for reading, intrusion is all i see here

this addon seems to choose what pages you can save, someone stated that it will remain grey for certain sites, besides it cant read my old scrapbook pages.

i see nothing but people complaining over and over again about no side bar, errors reading MAF pages, "bottom line" is scrapbook is an easy addon to code but the ambitions of the wrong people got their hands on it.
would be nice if a humble programmer simply posted it on like for a thank you or even some sort of offer besides luring people into web servers to eventually charge them for sharing info on the net.

Scrapbook allowed users to see their saved webpages and their path in the side bar, i find it hard to believe such a legacy program is far more advance then the greedy developers anticipated, on a positive note why not make it an official app or addon so people can used it securely, what are they profiting from by crippling iphones etc and now web browsers and apps?, its becoming a joke, people cant even keep their old computers, iphones or apps now and btw its going to be against the law to make products or software with schemes to force users to keep upgrading

Extensions for Firefox 57+ cannot directly access files on disk except at user direction (for example, the Open File dialog). Firefox standardized on the security model of Chrome extensions, although Mozilla has made some exceptions. I assume that is why the sidebar listing is no longer possible, but others probably have looked at it more closely.
I don't know what you're talking about with your reference to "greedy developers." Mozilla is a not-for-profit with a mission described in the following page, and it develops software to help fulfill the mission. If you think a built-in scrapbook or official scrapbook add-on would help, you can propose it, although this isn't the best place.

Greedy developers both software and hardware have abused schemes by re inventing everything and giving the illusion the product s an improvement when its really a scam, if scrapbook was removed from addon apps its not because of compatibility issues but because developers want people to cough up more money for something else.

if you or any developer is offended by the idea people are catching on to the deception well get ready because once laws are in place your identities, multiple accounts and true motives etc will be exposed even if your someone in the military doing it for civilian work.
If you cant respect why so many have come to this conclusion and instead insist to coerce anyone with out justifying facts then it applies to you because you could of said something in the lines if what Mozilla shared public in the past which was they refused to compromise privacy... hope this is still true.
