Someone hacked my email and synched with thunderbird. Are any logs kept for me to view?

I didn't realize there was no official technical support for Thunderbird. Thank you for anyone who takes time to respond. Someone hacked into a personal email and used Thunderbird to synch and possibly download to their computer. I would like to see if POP vs IMAP was used. If I changed my email password to original account (earthlink) and they only used IMAP, would that mean they no longer have access to the old messages that they had previously synched and viewed through Thunderbird? Or would that only prevent them from viewing new emails - post change of earthlink passcode?

This forum is the official Thunderbird support venue.

How did you determine your account was hacked? How do you know Thunderbird was used for that?

Do you have any reason to believe someone would take the effort to hack your account to download and read your personal email?

If you change your account password, then nobody else can access your account anymore, regardless of whether POP or IMAP is used.

Assuming your theory is correct, and someone did indeed download messages from your account, then you have to assume they can still be accessed locally, no matter what you do.

Thank you so much for taking time to reply. Complicated but a confession was made which is only reason I know. I was told it was synched but not downloaded and have changed email passcode. Will never really know but your response is still helpful!

Your provider will have logs, but how long they keep them is another question. If they are interested in helping you by checking them is yet another.
