Right-click website on URL bar to delete no longer work.

Kuphostiwe

Can no longer right-click and highlight website on URL bar to delete. I use this feature a lot since it is the quickest way to unclutter sites from my url bar. Changed value from true to false on 'browser.urlbar.quantumbar' via about:config does not work.

I think, the problem caused with your browser cookies and hope it's not a technical issue.

No, double-clicking the left mouse button does NOT delete anything. Instead it will take you to that selected site. I can do that with just one click. I wanted to DELETE, not go there!

Have you added any new add-ons or extensions? They might be the issue. Or try double clicking on the URL. There doesn't seem to be a big issue so don't worry. Try doing the above and let me know how it turned out to be.

There are no technical issues nor does my browser cache needs cleaning or problems with extension add-ons. If you will, go ahead and try dropping down the URL box and highlight a selected address by right-clicking with your mouse, it will NOT highlight nor select for deletion. I use this option daily and FF has totally (again and again) screwed the whole thing up just about every time whenever there is an update. Never fails.

The keyboard shortcut has been changed. Now it's shift + delete.

To select it you have to use mouse or arrow buttons.

This (shift+delete) I already know. I’m talking about the right-click to highlight to delete, NOT using the keyboard nor have to use two hands. Doesn’t anyone here not aware of that feature? I’ve been using it fir years.

Currently, it seems that right-clicking the URL bar drop-down displays the context menu that appears when you right-click a built-in toolbar button, like the Back button. That's not useful.

I don't know whether something more useful is planned for the future (like Open in New Tab, for example).

To submit feature suggestions, you have many choices, depending on your desired style of interaction.

Thank you jscher2000, you helped me last time with the exact same problem on a previous version by going to about:config, but this time version 70 is being stubborn and not adhering to such value. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I usually press the ESC key to select the text in the location bar and then either type new text to replace or press the Delete key to erase the current text.

There are prefs on the about:config page to set if you select all text with a single click on the location bar or with a double-click.
