Hi myohoman1,

I'm sorry to hear your bookmarks disappearing on your Firefox web browser.

Have you tried checking to see if a new Profile was created? It might be worth looking into.

You could switch back by typing about:profiles in the address bar - > under your default profile click Set as default profile

If your recovery process involved refreshing Firefox there may be a Old Firefox Data saved on your desktop.

Hi myohoman1, what do you mean by:

Now they're encrypted and I'm not able toaccess them

If you have a bookmark backup file with a name like

bookmarks-2019-09-30_1250_gibberish==.jsonlz4

they are definitely compressed but probably not encrypted. These .jsonlz4 files are meant to be restored to Firefox using the steps in the following article:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

However, a Restore completely replaces your current set of bookmarks. If you want to preserve what you have or see the contents first, I have a converter page which generates the HTML export format from the file:

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html

An HTML export file is brought into Firefox using the Import feature:

Import Bookmarks from an HTML file

An Import adds to your current bookmarks, it doesn't completely replace them.
