The add-on won't get installed. This is the error I'm getting "The add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure."

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Whatever the issue may be, it seemed to have resolved itself now. No changes were made but the add-on was successfully downloaded this time around. Thanks for all the advice!

Hi kanaka,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues installing Firefox Private Network.

Is your Firefox up to date? Have you tried downloading in Safe Mode?

Do you have any security software running in the background?

There seems to be issues with security software such as Avast that may be interfering with add-on downloads.

If you have Avast, it was recommend that disabling HTTPS-scanning in the web shield fixed the "The add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure" error.

Have you tried to clear your cache?

Here is the link to the Firefox Private Network download : Protect yourself from the hidden costs of free Wi-Fi {download link}

You could try to clear your cache in your web browser.

To do this :

1 Click the hamburger 3-bar menu in the top right of your web browser 2 On the left-side panel click Privacy & Security 3 Under Cookies and Site Data

Warning!

Clearing all cookies and site data stored by Nightly may sign you out of websites and remove offline web content. Clearing cache data will not affect your logins.'

4 Click Clear Data... 5 Check mark Cookies and Site Data 6 Check mark Cached Web Content 7 Click Clear 8 Restart Firefox and try to download Firefox Private Network.

Hope this helps!

I am also having the same issue. I did the steps listed, but I am still getting the same error message.

This was resolved in another post. See /questions/1268772

Are you able to successfully save the extension to your Downloads folder by using this method:

right-click the blue button > Save Link As

If that works, it's not really a connection problem, but Firefox may be lumping together a number of issues under that category.
