Hi wg8020, Probably. You should run some scans on your computer for malware - just to be sure. There are some tips and links for free scan tools in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

Don't forget - run the scans with Firefox closed.

Hello wg8020,

This is probably related to captive portal detection - if you don't use this feature, then please do this :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

network.captive-portal-service.enabled and set its value to false.

Then close and restart Firefox.

Hi wg8020, @McCoy forwarded this Reddit thread which is in regard to Captive Portal. I think it is interesting to point out that if you are not on a Captive Portal, it might be wise to figure out why you can't reach the URL. This may result in undesirable issues in the future.

Thanks all; It seems to be a temporary toolbar linked to the HH4 router. Not sure why it appeared and wanted me to download + install a "help program" but choosing "continue" with out downloading led to adverts for BT parental controls etc and declining all of these got rid of the toolbar. It looked rather suspicious initially, but installed Kaspersky / TSSkiller/ remote total virus all found nothing. I feel happier, and will report back if worse things happen. Thanks again. B Green
