Firstly: I'd like to apologize for my rude behavior in the past. Secondly: Pressing enter after inserting a URL or search term in the location bar leads me nowhere. Anyone got any hint as to why this is?

First, a disclaimer: we generally don't keep track of custom differences in Waterfox vs. Firefox.

Have you changed any settings related to the Autocomplete behavior of the URL bar? I don't remember Firefox 56, but in some versions, there was an issue where disabling all types of suggestions disabled the Enter key from working.

Otherwise, have you tried Firefox's Safe Mode to rule out an extension issue? Probably you are familiar with it, but just in case:

In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?
