Accented characters appear with extra accent mark: ´á ´é ´í ´ó ´ú (intermittently).
After Firefox has been open more than a few minutes, usually with at least two or three windows and/or tabs open, when I try to type accented characters (á, é, í, ó, ú Á É Í Ó Ú) they come out with an extra accent mark preceding the accented letter (´á ´é ´í ´ó ´ú). I usually have a WebWhatsApp window open.
This doesn't happen in other browsers or other programs that take text.
At the same time, the Ctrl+F (for find) function stops working. If I close all of the windows, and attempt to reopen Firefox, I get an error that says that Firefox is still running, and do I want to close it? I say yes, and it closes. And for a short or longer while, the problems go away. Then they come back.
Using Spanish (Mexico) language and Latin American keyboard, with Español (Mexico) language pack installed.
Lenovo Flex 3 -1570 laptop, Windows 10 Home v. 1803 . Updated Firefox Quantum 66.0.5. Had Firefox "optimized" a few times by my Lenovo tech support subscription service. No effect.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

The problem posted occurs during normal use. There are no "errors" that appear, nor anything else. Simply, the extra accent marks, and failure of the Ctrl+F (search) function to respond.

Any field that accepts free text. For example, messages in WhatsApp Web, e-mails in Yahoo Mail or Hotmail, posts in Wordreference.com. It could occur in this field where I'm inputting my response.
The screenshot is from a WhatsApp message, but it could be anywhere that I'm typing. And unfortunately it's intermittent. I also have a video but this system won't allow me to upload it.
Our uploader is only for pictures. Have you tried Safe Mode?

The problem hasn't recurred today, so not yet. Although if it works, I guess I would always have to work in Safe Mode for it to be of any help.

Open a 'Word' type program. Does it have the problem? Create an accented character in 'Word' and copy it. now paste it into the browser.
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Now in the Reply Box on the forum page, do a right-click in the box and select Paste.

How are you typing these accented characters? Is this via dead keys (i.e. you first type the accent and then the character and then they are combined) or are these characters present with the keyboard layout you use?

Normally, the accented vowel appears ( á ). When this problem is occurring, an accent appears when I type the left bracket, and then the accented character appears when I type the vowel, ( ´á).
In case it helps, to reproduce the effect with the browser functioning normally, I type the left bracket ( [ ), then space bar, and an accent mark appears.

A: No, it doesn't happen in Word, WordPerfect, Notepad or ANY program other than Firefox.
Pasting from other programs works fine. That's what I have to do, normally from Notepad. It's just a bother having to to that every time I type in Spanish (WHEN the problem is occurring).

I don't know.
As I mentioned, when the "accented character" problem happens, I also lose the search function (Ctrl+f) in Firefox. I have to close all of the Firefox windows and reopen.
Prior to reopening, I get a message saying that Firefox is still running, and would I like to close it? (All windows closed). Once I close it and reopen, the problem resolves. For a little while.
