In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled

• Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.

I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.

You can copy the base64 encoded certificate to a .pem file and import the certificate in the Certificate Manager under the Authorities tab. Do not set any trust bit when prompted because this is an intermediate certificate.

Funny. "studies" option is NOT available on 52ESR, which Mozilla stuck us with for XP. I'll try the code insert if updates do not come (how they "updated" me with the updates killed, I have no idea...nor how they will fix it with updates killed)

You need to save in a plain text format. In Word, you should be able to Save As to a .txt file. Alternately, you could paste the encoded certificate into the Windows Notepad program and save from there.

Double click it to set to false.

Wait a few seconds. Your add-on's should come back to life.

My issue was somewhat resolved using

xpinstall.signatures.require = true and setting it to false.

However, now that the disabled add-on's are re-enabled, each of them is highlighted in yellow with an unsupported notification.

Regular releases do not honor

xpinstall.signatures.require => false

That is for ESR releases and Developer/Nightly releases.

Also, this introduces the risk of rogue updates, so you should consider also disabling extension auto-updates with this setting so you'll have the opportunity to inspect and reject any questionable extension updates:

extensions.update.autoUpdateDefault => false

With that setting, when an update is detected, a new category will appear on the Add-ons page listing available updates.

Again, I WAS set to "false" YEARS before this issue, and it still is. No change. Tried saving in Word as .txt, wizard cannot find it, so I'll use the link provided. I mean, how bad can it be compared to this current fiasco? My wife's XP-64 is fine. Mine is screwed down tight, no updates, no nothing, and MAYBE the "fix" cannot get in. Still puzzled as to how this all worked to change my settings. Off to try the link!

Also, this isn't a fix. It's a temporary workaround. But it will allow addon use on ESR releases such as my own.

ESR channels only had 60.0 ESR, 52.0 ESR, 45.0 ESR, 38.0 ESR etc.

Fx 50.0 was on Release channel only so that Preference will not work.
