I have a general question about a locked account I used to have. If an account is locked, due to not having any more access to the email associated with it, does it eventually get deleted for being inactive for a long time or does it just stay locked?

You didn't say what type of account. Providers of different services have different ways of handling that scenario.

I am referring to my FireFox with Sync account. Since the email I have associated with it is no longer in use/deleted, my account is locked. I cannot gain account to the Firefox account anymore without sending a code to that email.

My question, since the account is locked, does it eventually get deleted for being inactive or does it stay locked?

Eventually the user data that is stored by Mozilla for that Sync account will get deleted automatically due to you never being able to connect to that account. As far as the account itself, I have no idea if or when it would be deleted.

If you are worried about someone being to access your data, put that out of your mind. Your data is encrypted and no one else can access your Sync account and won't be able to read your data with your Firefox Profile data. Specifically the triple "security keys" of like 63 alpha / numeric characters each which are used to make the connection to Sync and used to encrypt your data while that data is off of the devices that you had connected to your Sync /Firefox Account.

Bottom line is that losing access to the email address of record (your Firefox Account user name) is fatal. You could have set up a secondary email address, but to do that access to the original email account is necessary.

So what you mean is, anything saved on the account,(ex: Settings, passwords, bookmarks, etc.) will be eventually deleted, but the account will just be locked without anything being able to access?

Reason why I ask is because I been hacked before, and the email associated with that account, was hacked, so I had to delete access to it.
