Problem Scrolling through History
Situation: I need to find several articles that I viewed about the same time.
Since I try not to delete my history, I have many, many items.
So I scroll through my history, often for several minutes, find the first article. I click it.
YOUR SOFTWARE TAKES ME BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF MY HISTORY AND I HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN.
Please fix this.

Try doing a middle-click on the first History item that you select; to open that page in history in a new tab. For me the History listing doesn't reset to the top of the list; I am able to carry on from where the list was parked.
Middle click opens in a new tab, but still jumps me to the top of my history.
Have you tried using the search bar?
Open these entries in a New Private Window to prevent opening new history accounts. Note that Firefox only shows the most recent visit in the History Manager.

That's not helpful when I'm trying to find a cluster of pages I opened about the same time.
The real problem here is the larger problem of 'jumping pages': pages that shift as you are trying to click things, or in this case, which take you from where you were, to a place you didn't want to be.
When I am looking at information and trying to get work done, I should *never* be taken away from where I was; that is the beauty of tabs, I can have an Internet search on one tab, open links in another, and not lose my place in the search.
This problem needs a fix, not a workaround.

This will help, but it is a clunky and confusing workaround. The problem is that history is altered; first, I am looking at something days ago, and suddenly I am moved into the present; so there is no record of my earlier visit.
Because that's what *any* history is supposed to be, a record of where I have been, and when I was there. If I go to a page several times, there should be a separate record in the chronology for each visit.
See my other response, this is violating a basic end-user need. This problem calls for a solution, not a work-around.
All earlier visits are still stored in places.sqlite to make it possible to calculate the visit count. Firefox only shows the most recent visit and not older visits. For Windows there is a Nirsoft utility, but there isn't one for Linux (don't know if this utility works under Wine).
