Check your Search settings under Options when in Private Mode. You may wish to switch things back when you're done with Private Browsing to what they were for your 'regular' browser windows.

Hello fasderrally,
Would you please take a look at this article :

(you'll have to scroll down some)
'Hope that helps ......
When I enter the search setting in a private browsing window the settings are the same, search suggestions are turned on, but there are still no suggestion in the search bar
Probably a rhetorical question, but have you checked your settings here :
Options => Privacy & Security => Address Bar ?
Another thing you could try :
Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)
Type in the search bar keyword.enabled and make sure its value is set to true
If you had to change the value, then close and restart Firefox.
Yeah, I checked the address bar settings after Pj showed the screenshot. it's all enabled. And the setting was set to true
Probably another rhetorical question, but in this article :

Yeah, that article was linked in a comment above. The only part I can see that is discussing about private browsing is: "Search suggestions are disabled by default in Private Browsing mode. You must explicitly turn them on in a Private Browsing window to enable them in that mode." I opened the setting in a private window, but they were the same as in a regular window. Suggestions were turned on.
Stab in the dark, but could it be that you think you're not in private browsing mode because you don't see the mask icon ?
You won't see that icon when you're in permanent private browsing mode .....
Were we not talking about the same thing? I press Ctrl + Shift + P and boom! A new private browsing window is opened. Am I wrong? I'm not in permanent private browsing in general.
