This has been bothering me for ages. Would somebody mind visiting the above web site, clicking the heading for a news article with at least several comments, then scrolling down to those comments and clicking Reply on a few of them? What's supposed to happen is that the comments form that normally appears at the end of the comments jumps up and appears indented under the Reply button. I assume it works normally for you? Here, at most, the page scrolls a little but the form never appears.

The bigger problem is that this happens with every browser on this Windows 7 PC, not just Firefox, suggesting that a script or something is being blocked system-wide...but that doesn't appear to be the case. Launching Firefox's debug tools, all requested files either load (i.e. show a byte count) or list "cached". Opera Mini, running in the MicroEmulator Java console does work, BTW. I often block domains in the HOSTS file, but switch this off during testing, and it makes no difference. There is actually no antivirus or other software currently installed, but I do run MalWareBytes manually sometimes.

I am not looking for interactive problem-solving, as I'm very tech savvy and that's likely beyond the scope of this site anyway. I was hoping, though, that somebody more savvy with Javascript would take a quick look at the code and note the script files involved. I see most of the processing is in comment-reply.js. I used to be fair with Javascript but haven't touched it in nearly 10 years, and am still understanding IDE-style debugging.

Thanks for any suggestions.

so what does the actual error screenshot show? Without that others can't verify what your seeing to what they are seeing. Have no issue going there and clicking on the comment sections to see where you log in to make a comment.

Thanks for the reply. There's no error in the traditional sense. And no error in the developer console, i.e. "syntax error". Without recording a video, I can't describe it much better than above:

Here, at most, the page scrolls a little but the form never appears.

I can post window grabs from various parts of the developer tools if you'll tell me what you'd like to see.

EDIT: To describe it a little better, it's like clicking an <a href="#top"> link on a page when you're already near the top of the page. At best, the page scrolls a little. But if the scrolling is just right, nothing happens at all. And in my case, the Reply form also never appears.

The Comment Box is there for me, but I'm on FF 64.0 and the Tag says you're on version 55?
