Hi angel3503, Firefox uses the term "menu bar" for the very top bar (Firefox, View, Bookmarks, etc.).

Are you missing your Bookmarks Toolbar, which normally appears below the main toolbar and has buttons for sites? To turn that back on, either:

  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar
  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button) > Bookmarks Toolbar
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

Was that it? If not, could you describe the missing bar in more detail?

I am totally baffled with this latest update to Firefox. I do not see any of my history nor any bookmarked pages and the menu bar I am referring to was under my tabs and was short cuts to various sites I use... ie google map, google mail, FB, twitter ect...

Hi angel3503, I'm sorry to hear about that. It sounds as though something went very wrong in the process.

Shortcuts to sites would have been on the Bookmarks Toolbar. If you turn that on now, does it have your own bookmarks, or just the few things that come with a new installation of Firefox?

Let's see if we can track down where your data went.

First, do you see a new folder on your Mac desktop named Old Firefox Data? This folder is created when Firefox's Refresh feature runs (sometimes called a tune-up). If you have that folder, we can describe how to recovery important data files from it.

If you don't see that folder, then we'll provide detailed steps for looking in other places.

There is nothing in my bookmark... and when I try and bookmark new pages, it does not save it?? and there is nothing in my history even after I have visited various sites....

No I do not have a file named Old Firefox Data

It sounds as though the file that stores history and bookmarks together got damaged. There is an article with a way to replace the file with a new (empty) one. Once the file is working again, we can look at restoring your older bookmarks.

Success. I restarted the computer and history and bookmarked pages and bookmark toolbar all there!

Oh, thank goodness. I always feel silly suggesting that, so apologies for not mentioning it.

I should have thought of it to begin with. Thank you!
