Hi, that is correct as there has been many issues related to McAfee that has broken, slowed down or inconvenienced users as well as Volunteer Support. Norton lost support for their version when 57 was released but still has a Extension that is teamed up with Ask.com that provides the same things that it did in Google.

As to Mozilla's reasons for discontinue I have no idea.

You have things backwards. The burro doesn't push the cart, it pulls the cart with the burro taking the lead and guiding the cart.

McAfee Webadvisor is an add-on for Firefox and has to be compatible with Firefox after Firefox is updated. McAfee is slow on their update for Firefox 62; must have "fallen asleep at the switch".

On both my Windows 10 machine and my Windows 7 machine, I am using Firefox Quantum 62.0.2 and the information at Tools>Add-on>Extensions says that McAfee WebAdvisor 6.0.0.136 is enabled.

I get the McAfee WebAdvisor green icons to show up for a Google search on my Windows 10 machine. However, I cannot get them to show up for a Google search on my Windows 7 machine.

Why do I get the green icons in a Firefox Google search on the Windows 10 machine, but I do not get them on the same search on the Windows 7 machine??? Google is a default search engine for Firefox on both machines.

I might add that I get the green icons for a Bing search on both the Windows 7 and the Windows 10 machine. Bing is also a default search engine on both machines. But, only Windows 10, and not Windows 7, will show the green icons in a Google search. This is strange!! What can I do to get them to show up in the Firefox browser Google search on Windows 7??

I asked this question at Ask a Question | Mozilla Support before I opened an support forum account. And I read a post there dated 9/21/2018 that said Firefox 62 doesn’t support WebAdvisor. But that doesn’t seem to be true, 1) McAfee WebAdvisor is listed as an add-on; 2) I get the green icons when I do a Bing Search on my Windows 7, and I get the green icons when I do a Bing search AND a Google search on my Windows 10. It’s only a Google search on Windows 7 that does not produce them. What can I do to get them to show up?

Siteadvisor is pretty much a useless add-on, that just duplicates features already in Firefox. If you feel the need to use it, please contact McAfee, they can assist with setting it up.

It's called WebAdvisor now and I've read that it's different from SiteAdvisor, which no longer exists.

I do think it's a Firefox question, though, because FF has default One-Click search engines, among them Google and Bing, and one is treated differently from the other in Windows 7, whereas they are treated the same in Windows 10. So, that HAS to be a FF issue to my mind. And my FF (Quantum 62.0.0) has a WebAdvisor add-on. I didn't put it there. It was there when I first downloaded Quantum when it became available, and Firefox keeps updating it.

The WebAdvisor extension is from McAfee as no desktop Firefox version from mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ comes with the WebAdvisor extension as Mozilla has nothing to do with it.

Some extensions are provided with third party software, installed in a shared folder, and then made known to Firefox through the Windows registry. This could be one of those cases. If you were really curious, there are ways to investigate that, but since you are not looking to remove WebAdvisor, it's probably not worth diving into.

I could very well be wrong about this, but I am presuming that when I downloaded and executed the Quantum version soon after its release, there were some files on my system that transferred from the old, non-Quantum version to the new, Quantum version, some of which were files that WebAdvisor had generated. In Programs and Features, it says that WebAdvisor was installed on Oct 19, 2017, a date close to the release of Quantum in Nov, 2017, which I installed soon after it was released. So, my WebAdvisor installation predates the first Quantum installation. I am thinking that the Nov, 2017 Quantum must have made made use of those October 19, 2017 WebAdvisor files.

"made known to Firefox" is what I am alluding to in my response to James (today, 3:04 PM) when I say " the Nov, 2017 Quantum must have made made use of those October 19, 2017 WebAdvisor files." Yes, the registry could be how this happens (didn't have the right words at hand; thanks for helping out). And no, i don't want to go into the registry!!

I keep hanging on to the notion that if WebAdvisor is working OK with a FF Google search in 64-bit Windows 10, then something must be going haywire in FF in a Google search in 64-bit Windows 7 to fail to produce the green "safety" icons.

I will be working on following through with a) your question asking if the format of the Google search layout is the same in Windows 10 and Windows 7 and b) your suggestion for FF cache- and cookie-clearing.
