Firefox on Mars?
Upon setting up a new (refurbished) laptop, I was doing my Firefox settings and by chance under Options > Firefox Account > I clicked on "Manage Devices", which I had never done. When I scrolled down, there were 3 listings: My laptop/current Device My Desktop user's Firefox on Mars
I do NOT have a 3rd Device of any kind. I have a landline. I've never heard of Firefox of Mars. When I clicked on the Disconnect, it said: *They can still see your Browser Data, but it will not be synced into your account.*
I Disconnected it anyway. My questions are:
1. Who is THEY?
2. What or Who is this 3rd Device? I have no other Device.
3. What is Firefox on Mars?
I asked about this in the Firefox Community on Google Plus, here is the thread: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/106737980223247783155/106737980223247783155/posts/DpcS3pQtk8P

I would appreciate any help on this please!
I have no idea how to get back here to get any replies, so could you please email me?

I'm not having any freezing issues any longer. I sent that laptop back.
Do I still do these steps?

This is the email from the people I got the laptop from, the one I sent back: Hello Mary, We received the returned laptop back, and shipped a replacement via FedEx Ground, the tracking number is. We double tested the unit before the shipping, so the laptop should work properly. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any questions. Regards, Oksana Double tested.
yes you should, but let someone you trust do it or better you do it yourself.

im not talking about freezing issues, i'm talking about deepfreeze the software.
and did you formatt it before you send it back? or at least clear your informations? passwords, history, web caches, ... etc.

Yes, I did a reset on it before I sent it back. Wiping everything off of it.
It came back and said that there was 1 file it could not delete.
I have no idea what that file was.
I didn't notice the last part of your post. No, I don't have any software called deepfreeze.
Sorry and didn't answer you sooner, I was not available for the better part of a day.

the-edmeister << Wanted you to see this too. You wouldn't believe what I found!! On my G+ account, I went into the people following me and seen someone I have no idea who it is. I will put the links to his page and a couple of his posts to show you. KEEP IN MIND: That 3rd entry on the "Mange Devices on Firefox" user's Firefox on Mars Last synced a month ago near Mesa, AZ United States My question is: How creepy is this?
Creepy!
That confirms my SWAG = scientific wild-@ssed guess - a used computer that IMO wasn't handled with what I consider little or any security of former user or next user security in mind. It falls far short of what I would call "refurbished".
In Illinois there are laws against that type of operation
With all the flood vehicles out there that were "totaled" by the owners insurance company in New Jesey a few years ago, Texas last year, Florida a few months ago, and North & South Carolina now due to massive hurricanes, the used car market will be "flooded" with those vehicles. Some states DMV clearly mark those vehicles as "salvage only" so that they can't be sold in that state after being "fixed" or "prettied up" cosmetically; many of those cars are bought in numbers that make it worthwhile to be trucked to a different state with no laws that"honor" that "backmark" on the title; new title with any such notice. Buyers need to get a CarFax History report to learn the history of each used (or "new") car that they think about purchasing. If the seller refuses to provide a CarFax History report, walk away from that car regardless of how nice it looks or even how good it may seem to work. Saving a thousand or two just may cost a person $10,000 or more quite soon, and that isn't much compared to the long term cost if the vehicle is financed to obtain it and that person is "stuck" with it until it is paid off years later.

For some reason when I went to edit my answer, it would only give part of it. I tried several times to no avail. Anyway, here it is:
Yes, I'm well aware of this scam they do with the cars in weather ravaged places. Terrible.
As for these 'refurbished' laptops/computers, I've sure learned a lot so far. The problem is being able to afford a good new laptop. Some of us are limited.
I sure have a lot more to learn.
I love the SWAG.
the only way on how to delete your sync data entirely is to delete your account then register using the same e-mail address. simply head over to https://accounts.firefox.com/settings and select delete account.
then just register again.
What exactly is sync data?
Would I lose my Bookmarks again?
I used to have so many. I have the profile with many of them on it, but I don't know how to put it onto Firefox.
What is the Deepfreeze program?
you are asking about firefox on mars device that in your firefox sync data, so i gave you a way to get ride of it.
about deepfreeze:
- its software designed to 'freeze' your system so that no matter what changes occur, they aren't permanent.

May I ask you this? The only place I saw that Firefox on Mars thing was on that laptop, even though both it and this Desktop was signed into Firefox.
Is it possible for anything to have gotten into this Desktop? The laptop was sent back. When I go to Manage Devices on this Desktop, it just shows this Desktop.
Do you think it was just limited to the laptop?
Do you think it would be the safe thing to do what you said earlier:

Did you also click on the x to remove the device?
yes, it is safe if you register again immediately with the same account.
tomatoshadow2 _Did you also click on the x to remove the device?_
Do you mean to the right of the Device that said "Disconnect"?
If so, yes. When I did, it said:
"They can still see your browser data even though you're not synced in to your account."
I went ahead and Disconnected it anyway. _________________________________________

Is there a way to save the Bookmarks I have before I delete the account?
As I said before, I have a profile from months ago before I lost all my Bookmarks over a password.
Can I get a profile again with just the Bookmarks, or would it possibly carry something along with it that I'm trying to get rid of?
If so, can you give me directions on how to do that, please?
And then later directions on how to get it back into my new account? Even if it's just the older Bookmarks. (I was able to get them back in before but can't remember how then lost them over the password, but I still have that profile saved)
saving bookmarks:

Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day.
