Pocket search as search engine? And how to add search engine from anywhere?

more options

Hello. I love search engines with keywords, I have many and they are very useful ("gten" translates whatever I type next in the URL bar to English in Google Translate, "lenes" does the same from English to Spanish in Linguee, "denes" the same in DeepL, "fa" looks for Firefox add-ons, "gd" opens any document('s URL) in Google Docs, and so on). So I have two questions:

1) How can I add a search engine from any search box anywhere as I could with "Add to Search Bar" (a legacy add-on, "add-to-searchbox@maltekraus.de")?

The "find replacement" link (https://addons.mozilla.org/find-replacement/?guid=add-to-searchbox@maltekraus.de) shows nothing of value, absolutely nothing.

I managed to find Search Engine Helper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/search-engines-helper/ & https://github.com/soufianesakhi/firefox-search-engines-helper), which requires manual input of search URL pattern etc., but does not provide an equivalent usability level to the legacy one's (maybe due to never ending API limitations).

2) How can I have a search engine for Pocket?

Pocket and Firefox are both under Mozilla's umbrella and it should be easy to integrate them. Yet, if I not mistaken (as I am tech savvy only to a point), Pocket search seems to be based on a GET command, according to my amateur analysis of developer tools' network requests, instead of a direct http://getpocket.com/a/queue/list/%s (this is the URL for opening a tag directly). Is it possible to create a search engine that makes a direct search in Pocket?

Hi, there is 80 pages here : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Search%20enginesures

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Search%20engines

If you mouse up to the search box in Firefox while on this page I have the option of adding Search from Mozilla.

This happens on lots of pages there is a option but have to mouse up and have list drop down to see the add.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/in-my-pocket/

You can make your own add-on if you wish to.

Pkshadow, thanks for replying, but of those 2 add-on lists only one add-on gets close to the (legacy) add-on I mentioned, and it's precisely the other (web extension) add-on I also mentioned already. And that single relevant replacement is still not as good/easy to use as the legacy one.

As to adding a search keyword when right click in a search box, it does work 95% of the time, even if it creates a bookmark rather than a search engine. But it doesn't work in Pocket's search box.

In My Pocket is an interesting add-on that I knew already, but I stopped using it because it requires some exaggerated permissions:

  1. "Access your data for all websites": why?!?!
  2. "Display notifications to you": ok
  3. "Access browser tabs": why? but if it must, ok...

So, if I may, I adjust my original question for it be the following: how can create search engines/keywords for search boxes that do not work in a simple URL way ("...%s"), like Pocket's search?

In the mean time, thank you for the heads up on Flash.
