Videos won't play here:

https://www.mlb.com/

and other similar sites.

Then I get this annoying message on the top of my screen, "A web page is slowing down your browser. What would you like to do?"

How do I fix this?

Seems like there is a lot of java script and possible ads. You may want to get a adblocker if not using one. uBlock Origin is nice and strong to block that stuff.

Well it just turned up on me also and crashed the page. I would suggest seeking another comparable site for that same info.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. In spite of the script issues on this site, I never had any problem playing videos there or videos from mlb.com embedded elsewhere using Firefox until Thursday, Sept. 6. Why did these videos suddenly stop playing? Is there a way to find out if something recently changed on mlb.com regarding script, etc.? Did something change with Firefox? (I did not install an update immediately before these video issues popped up.) I use Adblock, uBlock, and uBlock Origin. By the way, the videos play fine using Microsoft Edge, but I don't want to have to sit through the advertisements that are often longer than the videos themselves.

Why don't the Firefox developers come up with a workaround for this script issue? That would be the most ideal solution.

It is possible your Adblockers are a issue. Should not be using 3 of the same kind. Use uBlock Origin, it gets it's lists the same place the other 2 does but does not let stuff through if they pay like the other 2 do. Use in combination with Ghostery as it looks at ads differently.

No it is not a Developers issue, you should be onto the site to fix their coding as disrespecting the rules, you and others by having bad coding.

If code was good may run on Firefox, other browsers let bad code slide.

I have a fast System with 24gig of ram and the site crashed a separate window on me and I do not crash.

No work around.

Is English your first language? I don't understand what you're attempting to communicate. The bottom line is this: I've had AdBlock, uBlock Origin, and uBlock running simultaneously for years and have never had a problem playing mlb.com videos on Firefox until just a few days ago. I simply want to know why this is the case. Your explanations don't tell me anything. Is there a way to find out if mlb.com has recently done anything on their site to cause the issue of their videos not playing on Firefox? You have done nothing to explain why these videos play on Microsoft Edge but won't play on Firefox. I've been a Firefox user for years, but inadequate "solutions" from contributors such as you will eventually lead me to stop using this browser.

Hi, is politeness your 1st thought.

Please try : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Performance > Uncheck to view)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST''''is issue still there ?

As I mentioned the site has bad code : HTML : https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mlb.com%2F

CSS : https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=+mlb.com+&profile=css3svg&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

Contact them and ask them what high school student is coding their site, complain and show the the URL's

The fact that your responses are mostly in code and not in English led to my query. Most people who come to this site are not programmers, developers, or engineers. Please keep that in mind when trying to present solutions to Firefox users.
