I refreshed Firefox, which sent my ad-blocker and 4 Norton files to the Old Firefox Data folder. Is Norton gone? How do I get these & ad-blocker back?
I refreshed Mozilla, which was suggested to make it work more quickly. But I didn't understand that it would remove my ad-remover. I found that in the Old Firefox Data folder, in the Browser-Extension-Data file, and I also found 4 files of Norton security (idsafe, nortonhomepage,nortonsafesearch, and nortonsafeweb). Does this mean my security from Norton has been dumped and is no longer functioning? If so, how do I get it back into my browser? And the same with the ad-remover. I think before I refreshed there was some mention that things could be brought back to the browser if desired. Sorry if I haven't used the right terms here, I'm not always sure what they are . . .

Don't panic!
For Norton, there may be a panel in your Norton software to add extensions to browsers, or it might happen magically later, for example, when you restart Windows.
For your ad removing add-on, do you remember what it was called? If not, here is a way to research it:
(1) On your desktop, double-click into Old Firefox Data, then double-click into your old profile folder.
I can't tell you the name of the old folder because the first part is random. The second part usually is default.
(2) Position this window so you can see an open Firefox tab behind it. Then drag and drop extensions.json onto the tab.
Firefox should show a large block of text, then switch to a structured display of the file's contents.
(3) Use Find (Ctrl+f) to search for default which should match defaultLocale for each extension. Just below the line where Find lands is the name of that extension in your language. Can you find the one you want?
Once you have the name, you can track it down on the Add-ons site:

Not a reply, just a comment in addition to the above. Norton just popped up to tell me I didn't have all its parts enabled, so I was able to do that without messing with the Old Firefox Data folder. So I guess that huge part of my question is already taken care of. What about ad-remover?
Thank you sooo much. It was fun to discover these things, and to research the add-ons. UBlock Origin is free, for heaven's sake, and sounds great, so I'm going with that and will cancel the other, saving some money. An extra bonus! :-) Also appreciated your opening line - don't panic! Hi, you can pare uBlock Origin with Ghostery, have to figure out both as pages will break but the pause on both are really easy and adjustments also. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/ghostery/
Thanks, Pkshadow, I will check it out. I presume I would want to do this to get something that complements UBlock Origin, but isn't the same thing? I'll do some researching. These things are hard for me to figure out sometimes. :-)
Most of us run them both. Correct, not a like. I have Norton also and run the Malwarebytes Extension. It does block some 3rd party cookies and is another layer. Also run Malwarebytes Pro along side Norton.
