Tabs keep randomly opening up advising of McAfee expiration (see screenshot), however, McAfee is not installed on my computer. Also other tabs keep opening up asking me to install add-ons, these result in using task manager to shut down, as I lose control of Firefox.

I have no add-ons installed, one theme (light) and three plug-ins(Flash, H264 CODEC and Widevine) so nothing I would consider as malware/adware.

Any suggestions.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.
