I have been using Thunderbird for years, but when I opened it today, it is offering to set up a new account as if I am a new user.

None of my four email accounts are showing. My address book seems to be the only thing that is still accessible. All worked perfectly yesterday. No apparent reason for the missing accounts.

It looks like your profile has been moved or is not accessible.

Four accounts over several years would occupy a noticeable amount of storage. Can you check if you current profile is empty? It's location should be available from the help menu, under Troubleshooting information.

I found my profile, backed it up per troubleshooting instructions, created a new profile, copied the contents of old profile into new profile, restarted Tbird, and nothing changed. Tbird still not accessing my profile, but offering to set up new account as if I just started using Tbird. As noted earlier, my address book was available when I first encountered problem. ????

This was a great help in recovering all but my Local Folders. An identical "Local Folders" folder is in my new profile, but I cannot view it in Thunderbird. How can I access the "Local Folders" folder?

Update: I also do not have access to my calendar data although the profile contains an identical calendar-data folder as my old profile folder. How can I recover my Local Folder data and calendar data?
