Why do I continually get a notification to update Firefox, even though I have but moments before updated?
For the last few weeks, at the least, I have been getting a notification to update Firefox upon initial launch. I update, shut down Firefox, and restart. Right away I am again given the update notification.

I would guess because you are around 5 updates behind according to your version # of 57,0,4 and current version is 59.0.2 Also it seems that the updates may not be taking. Please make backups :
Then do a install over top with a full version installer from here :

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders.
