I've tried everything according to all the suggestions to no avail. When using the bookmark or typing in the url https://att.yahoo.com it defaults to https://start.att.net. Nothing has changed and updating to the lastest version 58 didn't fix it either. This is so annoying since the web page works in Chrome an Safari.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting to the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

That is a DNS problem not a browser problem. I clicked on Chrome for att.yahoo and it goes to start.att.net. So that would mean it's from their side.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

  • check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions"

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

Thanks cor-el. It's a case of been-there done-that, however, you did hit on something interesting.

I compared the page info and discovered, there is no permission tab on start.att.net. And, the webside doesn't store cookies or media files. All the other bookmark links have this information. Weird.

Sounds that the page is opened via an extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
