</p><p>Firefox 13.0 and later required Windows XP at minimum at least until 53.0 and later when WinXP/Vista was dropped and only supported by Firefox 52 ESR.
</p><p>Not sure if the method of updating Win2000 mentioned in this thread <a href="http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&amp;t=2482475" rel="nofollow">http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&amp;t=2482475</a> is still possible to get a more current version like Firefox 52.5.3 ESR or even 45.9.0 ESR installed.

<p>Yes, Windows 2000 is much too old!
</p><p>Windows 2000 was a great improvement over Windows 98, and Windows XP was better. Now even XP has reached the end of the road with Firefox 52 (extended support release).
</p><p>You could consider using Linux, but there may be some challenges with interoperability if your system configuration is uncommon. Ultimately, you may need a new system (or a new used system) to get a modern browser running.
