After the latest update, I no longer get a scroll bar appearing (on the right-hand side) of the message pane. How do I get it back? And yes, I have many, many more messages in my inbox than there is room to display in a single pane. Thanks,

Yes, indeed. The scroll bar is present in Safe mode.
