All other browsers are showing eBay descriptions normally, but in Firefox 57.0 the descriptions are now missing. Have cleared the cache and tried adding and removing various privacy settings as well as add-ons. Windows 7 opsys

Hi polyrus, could you describe the missing descriptions in a little more detail? For example, is this when you get a page of results, or is this when you open the page for a particular item? More info would be helpful.

Some items have a large section that is embedded into the page from another site. If that area is blank, when you right-click it, there should be a "This Frame" item on the right-click context menu. That leads to a sub-menu with "Open Frame in New Tab". If you see that, give it a try and see whether you can view the content separately from the main listing, or whether that address gives you an error message.

Thanks.

I was not aware one could see a description area on a page of results, I will have to search for one.

The only place I have encountered the 'description area' is when opening individual particular listings. On those listings pages (all of them), there is a small full width 'Item specific' frame which shows featured refinements if there are any. Under that is where sellers write the item description, but now for most on FF that is just a huge blank area. I have to scroll down a long way before seeing another couple of small full width frames, which may contain sellers other items or similar and beneath that are a piles of sponsored links.

For listings where sellers are clearly using HTML to post the item descriptions, there does not seem to be an issue as the 'item descriptions' are visible.

I'm dreading having to re-set FF and especially if that does not cure the problem.

Could you give an example link to a page where you get the large blank area? I promise not to bid.

Also, when you encounter this issue, is there any change to the green padlock icon or any unusual security information displayed on the drop-down panel that appears when you click it?

Hello again

With respect I included an attached image of a listing and the item number is in my screen capture top right. Mozilla must have decided to crop my image. The bit they must have cropped off says eBay item number: 182954669465

There are no changes to the green padlock or security area that I can see. All appears to be normal. If there is no easy solution to this I would like to revert back to the old version of FF which worked fine prior to the update....only I don't think it is possible to go back.

Apart from with eBay and the loss of some add-ons FF 57.0.2 64 bit seems OK for what I need so I could start to use Chrome or IE if it can't now handle eBay.

Your screenshot is very wide, so I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to see the item number: https://www.ebay.com/itm/182954669465

That area is blank for me, too. There are a bunch of errors in the Browser Console along these lines:

However, if I disable Firefox from enforcing CSP and let the site inject scripts any way it likes, that area is still blank in Firefox 57. When I test in Firefox 52 (Extended Support Release), I get similar behavior (also, the page never finishes loading).

Perhaps eBay changed something recently? Until this is resolved, you can use a different browser for your eBay buying/selling.

Many thanks for your interest and patience with this one. Whilst there is no answer yet, it is reassuring to know that it is a widespread issue and not just on my machine. I can stop looking for issues with my setting ;-)
