I think there was a recent new release. Screens look different and I can no longer find my favorites bar... and unable to figure out how to get it back or recreate it. Help!

Now... sometimes user show us that they have turned on the Bookmarks Toolbar and it is completely blank. In that case, please go into the Customize panel and click the button at the bottom which says "Restore Defaults." Firefox then should show a little area called "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" on the Bookmarks Toolbar while you are in Customize mode.

Photon is a new design that creates a fluid, native experience on every operating system. There is more room above the tabs, the search bar and address bar now have the option to be combined or separated, and the menus in Firefox are organized by common tasks.

In order to customize all your favourite functions, you can use the ‘Customize’ setting in this new menu. See the Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars article for more info.

You can add the "Bookmarks Menu" button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar via these steps:

  • click the bookshelf 57 library icon icon on the Navigation Toolbar or alternatively use the Library menu in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button New Fx Menu drop-down list
  • click Bookmarks
  • click "Bookmarking Tools", then click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
The Bookmark Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) should appear on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can also drag the Bookmarks Menu button from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar

Unfortunately, this did not work. I have the toolbar and I have the bookmarks icon but I can not get my specific bookmarks to show in the toolbar... like they used to. I have to expand the bookmark icon and then expand the bookmarks toolbar to get to my most used bookmarks... They used to be in the toolbar and I used clicked on them.

I also tried to drag and drop... does not work.

Firefox has many places you may use to access bookmarks:

(1) Menu buttons -- either a toolbar menu button (looks like a star on a tray) or on the classic menu bar (File, Edit, View...)

(2) Bookmarks Toolbar -- normally appears just below the main toolbar

(3) Bookmarks Sidebar -- opens to the left of the page content

To turn the Bookmarks Toolbar or classic Menu Bar on and off, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list. Click again to turn it off.

Earlier versions of Firefox allowed add-ons to create other toolbars, so if none of those have your missing bookmarks, is it possible they were stored somewhere else, such as a cloud-based service?
