Mkll - yes; I updated now, and it's the same.

If the issue still persists, try setting media.windows-media-foundation.use-nv12-format to false in about:config.

If that doesn't work try disabling Hardware Acceleration in the Performance section of the options (hidden behind Use Recommended Settings).

From "media.wi" - nothing is displayed.

And disabling "Use hardware acceleration when available" - didn't help.

In YouTube - there was and still is - the message - "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device."

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
   • Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
   • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

I'm afraid I can't do that. I have a strange problem for years. Probably related to my inbuilt graphics-card. The problem is that when I start FireFox, and now Pale Moon as well - sometimes the computer hangs; and I have to shut it down. Normally it's by probability; sometimes it hangs and sometimes the browsers start. But now when I tried to "start fresh" - it happened every time. I tried maybe 11 times.

Hello, can you play these same videos with another browser? If not, check your graphical drivers (what is your Linux distribution?)

Yes, I can play them; and could the day before FF-57. And it's any video on any site. My OS is Puppy Linux.

How about giving a link and other can run on their FF57 to see if they have the same issue or not?

Hi, your video example works fine for me. Can you type about:config in your url bar, accept the warning by clicking on the button and search for media.autoplay.enabled. Try to set the value to True if set as False.

smorele - it's "true". :-( I tried to set it to false, then to true again; without success. BTW - the first frame seems to always be there - but clicking on any place in the timeline - doesn't change that frame. So it's not just about playing; something is fundamentally wrong. I guess - reinstalling is the only option left, ah? BTW - it's a portable version; may have something to do with it; though worked before.

Did you contact the creators of Puppy Linux to see if there was any known issues with FF57 as well?

Make sure you have the latest FFmpeg packages installed in your Linux distribution.

You can also check the Browser Console for error message and possibly start Firefox via a terminal window to check for messages listed in that console.

Maybe since it released they didn't test for it in FF57 since FF57 isn't like past FF version. You might want to encourage them to update so work in FF57.

WestEnd - update what? FireFox just updates automatically; I never need to do anything in the OS for that. And it's a forum; so people would mention if they would have a problem with the new version.
