I'm using TB 45.7.1. I had a ransomware malware, so I chose to wipe the disk and reinstall X7 Pro. Before wiping I backed up C: & D;--both on the same SSD, so I have access to my prior User data. I copied both Local & Roaming old Profiles to my new User TB folders. I followed the directions to open the Profile Manager, but it can only see 1 default profile--iow I can only see the new one installed when i reinstalled TB.

Using TB troubleshooter, I can see both when I click the Show Folder button, but that's all I can do.

I do NOT want to put these OLD emails in the new install, but some of them I may need to look at again to get info that is ONLY in them.

How can I easily switch between them?

Thank you for the reply. I've never done this before, so I screwed up. I have only 1 received email--so I'm just gonna remove TB and reinstall it.

Per your instructions and the link you sent, I created a new new profile named it Old_Profile in Local/Thunderbird/Profiles. Profiles had the .default profile that was created when I installed TB and I also had copied the old profile to that folder, and the same directory in Roaming.

What happened was It created the profile under Profiles and it contained the other 2 profiles in that profile. When I opened TB it was like a new install--nor messages now email accounts.

So I deleted all the folders and files from Profiles except the 2 .default profiles--iow back to where it was before. I then made a folder in Local/Profiles called OldProfiles. I started Profile Manage and deleted the Old_Profiles (which never had a folder by that name) and created a new Profile named OldProfiles, and told it to install it in the folder with the same name. Somehow this was done in Roaming--not Local--so It's all screwed up. I'll redo the whole TB install tomorrow.

Please clarify where I should create the new profile--Local or Roaming. And clarify--when I use Profile Manager to create a new profile, Do I just use the location where the new Profile folder will be located, IOW the folder Profiles, or do I need to create a folder first in the the Profiles folder and name it what the name of the Profile is gonna be?

The instructions seem simple--I thought I followed them correctly.

Thanks, Ron
