Seems that bolded type is substituted with square containing an "A" on some some sites. Tried the solution suggested for another user, but did not work for me. I use Firefox on my Macbook Pro with OS 10.9.5

hi, this was a bug in firefox 56 when the third-party Extensis Suitcase Fusion font manager was also present on the system. this issue should be fixed in the new firefox quantum release that is available since a few hours...

Update Firefox to the latest release
