Firefox crashes after 10 Oct 2017 update, reports not submitting, Firefox not reopening
Running MS-XP sp3 as OS with MFirefox as browser.
Updated Firefox on Tuesday 10 October on my desktop machine. Instantly crashed. Got crash report box appearing. Report not submitting properly on Restart or Quit. Have tried many times. Have also uninstalled and re-installed twice to see if that would cure the problem. No success.
Please note that I'm submitting this on a laptop - for obvious reasons.

It would be really helpful to get the crash report, but as a wild guess, do you run Malwarebytes? See: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/209334-install-3222018-and-firefox-5230-crashes/
Hi Jeff, yes I am running M'bytes and they updated at the same time. I did wonder if there might be a conflict there.
Mozilla apparently has been a bit naughty and forgotten to announce clearly in update boxes, etc., that XP users cannot go beyond Firefox 52! Why did they not tell us? Aaauuuggghh! Such a basic piece of essential information.
Hopefully, Firefox 52 will be accessible on this site and I will re-install that Then if the issue persists, I will take it up with Malwarebytes. The fault is then likely to be more theirs, with their latest upgrade.
If you know a quick & easy link to the old Firefox v52 I would be grateful if you would post it here. It may help others, too.
Thanks for your help and best wishes, MuddledMal
XP users need to use the Extended Support Release, not the standard release of Firefox 52. You are on the correct "channel" and 52.4.0esr is a security update to Firefox 52.
By the way, to update your Adobe Acrobat/Reader plugin, you can update the stand-alone application. In Adobe Acrobat/Reader, go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates. That should get you to the latest release:
Sorry, forgot to mention I screen grabbed the latest report and tried to attach it as an Adobe pdf to my first post. It obviously did not work. I will try and extract the text. Here we go: no - copy & paste not working either. I'll try and attach the Word doc I have created.
No - there appears to be a fault on this site, the message is:
"Error uploading image Invalid or no image received."
No, sorry, am going to have to admit defeat. I may visit your Blog and see if I can get it to you that way if it will help.
Best wishes, MM
Hi MuddledMal, unfortunately, without the crash stats site interpreting the crash report data, it's impossible for me to make heads or tails of it.
Did you try the workaround mentioned on the Malwarebytes forum to see whether that makes any difference?
