Redirects
When using some sites, there are many redirects and I even get a new fire fox page. Why and how can I fix this?

That is a website issue. BUT be warned: Some re-directs are from ad-ware.
If you want to stop the redirect warning, Type about:preferences#advanced<enter> in the address bar. Under Advanced, select General Turn off Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page.
It's worse now.

Could you be a bit more specific : what does this 'new Firefox page' look like ?
Happy, some times a regular page like when you open FF. and other times the tv show I want to watch opens in a new page as well as my original page. Hope this helps.
Note that the System Details list shows you are using an outdated Firefox 51 version
- User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0
If you need to use plugins other than Flash then you should install the later Firefox 52.2.1 ESR version to get that latest security updates.
Firefox 52.2.1 ESR:
- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.2.1/releasenotes/
- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.2.1/system-requirements/
Firefox 52 and later releases only support the Shockwave Flash plugin and disable all other plugins. If you need to use other plugins then you can use the Firefox 52 ESR release. Otherwise you can stay with the current Firefox release version.
Why-do-Java-Silverlight-Adobe-Acrobat-and-other-plugins-no longer work.
It does not answer my question, nor solves my problem. I updated to a newer version of Fire Fox and that's when my problems started. I went back to the older version because it was OK.
What redirects do you get and how do these manifests?
Can you attach a screenshot?

- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot

Thank you.
I may be completely wrong, but my first thought was : redirect virus. Would you try this, please : Go to the 3-bar menu => Addons => and look for any unfamiliar or suspicious looking extensions, like e.g.: SafeSearch Incognito SearchAssist Incognito When you do find any : remove them.
Then, let's run malware scans :
Further information can be found in this article :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners.
They all work differently - what one program doesn't pick up, the others might.
I have 2 add ons, Adblocker Plus and Privacy Badger that I downloaded.

You could also look for suspicious looking software in Windows'
Control Panel => Programs
But whether you find anything or not : would you run the scans anyway ?
Better safe than sorry !

My redirect issue with FF56.02 + Win 7 + G News is apparently controlled by whether or not I have FF set-cookie permission either on or off. So nothing suggested in that other place worked.

You are posting this in somebody else's thread - would you be so kind as to start your own thread ? You can do so by clicking on 'Ask a question' at the top of this page.

By 'that other place' you probably mean the MozillaZine forum (?)
Yes indeed.
Posted here because of its relevance to this somebody else's thread.

If someone has sent you a PM (Private Message) you can click on 'Reply'.
Or : if you want to send somebody a private message you can click on either their avatar or display name here (to the left of their post) - that will take you to the Private Message box.
