My message above occurs whenever I try to access Carfax or even carfax.com, but it is the only site that does this. All browsers including chrome and explorer do this. I generally exclusively use Firefox for everything and the generic help on the web all claim removing cookies will do it. I remove cookies each time after logged out, and clear history as my method option, and I even recently removed all manually and my attempts still display this sorry message:

The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator.

Hi

I can see that website, and am not getting any similar error message. So that we can better understand the issue, please can you reply with a screenshot of what you are seeing.

I had no problem as well.

And I am very suspicious of that message. Did it include any links? Don't use them.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Started Firefox in safe mode or safe start and still got the message below:

Thank you!

Here is the screenshot, which is as I copy/pasted it, which never gives any further instructions. Thanks for the help so far, but I have given up on this one a few times, and really dislike setting "security) and protection for web use and changing/restarting to find the same message, then going back to fix the mess. It does not fix in Explorer or Chrome either. Bob

What URL are you starting on? In other words, are you intentionally starting on a mobile login page (judging from the address) or is the site somehow redirecting you there?

When I try that page, it just never loads (as you can see in the attached screenshot).

Since you have this problem in all browsers and you have tried clearing cookies, can you think of any software on your system that could be modifying requests from your browsers? This could be your security software, firewall, or a proxy server or VPN.

If this system is in a business network -- directly or through a company VPN -- check with your IT on whether that site is intentionally blocked.

I give the simplest attempt at Carfax.com below. I can never look at Carfax reports from car dealers sites or link without getting this same message. I live in the Caribbean but no other sits are blocked this way. I am on a home network. I am the administrator for my laptop, and the owner of the house is not blocking Carfax. Of the sites that get blocked here, PBS Frontline or some free movies may not play in this region, but that is a least somewhat explained. This near useless screenshot message tells me nothing and makes it difficult to work around. Thanks, Bob

I currently get this while accessing carfax.com

Refreshing gives a new support ID. I'm in the US so its not a regional issue.

Refresh Firefox did not work, and still get the same result(s). No harm done, since I did not lose data, but it did not work. Thanks.

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

I tried it two ways. I picked one Carfax attempt from the list of what I was doing today. And, I searched for Carfax.com and selected it and neither attempted gave a resolution. I have my laptop set up to clear all cookies after I log out. Also, I forgot to mention, I used Windows 8.1 Pro with full defender protection and updates, so not a Norton or other duplicate problem with firewalls and protection, since I only use defender. I also at one time months ago used the exception to that site = carfax.com in blocking contact/cookies/etc. and since it was not working that way, some person suggested removing carfax from the list of exception websites, since that worked for them. Made no sense, but I tried anyway.

If you use a bookmark then navigate to the web page starting with the main page or the sign in page in case there is a problem with this bookmark.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache":

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Did all of this and still get: The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator.

Your support ID is: 18197341215784517398 Remember, I have never gotten on the carfax site ever from all of my attempts in the past year or so when using 8.1 Pro. Years ago on win7 I did, and I do not store cookies when I log out except for those sites I plan on watching or going back to as bookmarks. Given I have never gotten onto carfax at any attempt, it is not bookmarked, except to try it as a solution = telling the laptop to forget that bookmark. I have read much of this around since 2002, and most of what has been suggested here has worked for other goomers, but it has not and is not working for me. That being said, I really do appreciate all answers people take their time to help me. I need a haircut tonight and six or seven beers, then I will return to drink another day. It is a difficult problem.

Do you think it might be a block based on your IP address? One possible workaround for that is a VPN.

more options

Because I am in the caribbean, I suspect you may be correct, but I always get an explanation or hint towards that. I will search what the VPN workaround is, but my coding skills are nil. Also. I do get magic jack to work down here, and it is occasionally blocked from some IP administrators on public networks, but I get some clarification on that back in the states. Here magic jack works as if I am in the states and similar quality.

more options

A VPN requires an intermediary, either free or paid. For example, I've used this company Chrome extension from time to time (low volume free account): https://www.tunnelbear.com/

more options

I will try that or similar trial period to determine if carfax is blocked down here for any reason. They do ship export only totaled or flood damaged cars down here unable to be sold in the USA, so there may be a connected method to their madness of only blocking this site. Thanks again and I will get back with my progress or lack of.
