Thunderbird not responding
Thunderbird has suddenly decided no matter what I do it is not responding. I cannot access my emails or do anything else. I became so desperate I decided to use Eudora BETA instead but that is just as bad. I have removed both programs from my computer but when I download and install Thunderbird it opens with all my old information but still I just get the message Not Responding (there must be something somewhere that has not totally removed the program I would think for this to keep occuring??). How do I fix this problem as it has become beyond frustrating.

What is your anti-virus software?
I am using Nortons Security and have been for some time now. This problem has just started.

Can you confirm you did start Windows in safe mode?
I followed your instructions to the letter and it still kept telling me that it was not responding
What is your account type - POP or IMAP?
What is the size of your Inbox?
POP3 and I am not sure about the size of the inbox. Where/how do I find that? (I'm not at the computer with thunderbird on it till tomorrow afternoon sorry )
Right-click Inbox - Properties
I had removed it from my computer but reinstalled it this time it never brought back all the old information so it is empty. Therefore the inbox is 0, I am sorry this probably doesn't help. I did use a different browser to download the program though could this make a difference?
Do you think the size of the inbox was the problem? I s there a way to change it ìf necessary?
The size of the Inbox may be a problem if it's huge. Are there any other large folders? Large means hundreds of MBs.

Thank you for your patience and help. I'm going to have to start again with a fresh account as I mentioned in an earlier post I uninstalled this and after doing so several times the information has gone. You have been most helpful and I am very appreciative. Thnk you
If your pop account is configured to keep messages on server this can cause a performance issue.
No Wayne, my server isn't configured to keep messages on the server. This problem was too big to solve so I totally wiped Thunderbird and started over again. I still have other issues that I will start a new thread on though
