I was tricked into downloading the latest version of Firefox, and then told that my version of Mac OSX doesn't support it.

To answer the question.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-osx on your options.

Firefox since 49.0 and later requires Mac OSX 10.9 or later to run.

Unless you upgrade to OSX 10.9 or later your only option in being up to date with Firefox security for a while still is to use the Firefox 45 ESR as mentioned in above article.

What version were you using? What do you mean; 'Tricked into downloading' ?

Firefox updates are done inside Firefox. Did you get a notice from Firefox, e-mail, pop-up . . . . . .

Anything other than Firefox may be a scam.

Install an older version of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under "I still want to downgrade" Click the Directory of other versions and languages link Look for the directory of the version that you want. But remember that old versions may have security issues.
