I cannot open links as the screen flashes but does not allow a new tap to open. This was very random for several weeks but it is happening more and more.

This started several weeks ago, but now the frequency has increased where I cannot seem to open a link into a new tap. Screen flashes, but nothing happens. I have tried Google Chrome, and this problem does not manifest itself in another browser, so I assume it's not my CPU, or security software. I use Avast, and Malbytes Malware. I do not want to change fro Firefox! Help!

You need to do a little more troubleshooting to determine the cause; as explained in this section of that SafeMode support page.

The problem does not happen in Safe Mode

If the problem does not happen in Safe Mode, it is most likely because of an extension, theme or hardware acceleration.

See the article Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems for solutions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Hello: OK, so I started Firefox in the safe mode and the issue is not there. So..... what is the cause of my problem? Do I have to start Firefox from now on in safe mode? If so, sounds like I am treating the symptom, not the cause.

I tried everything, but nothing worked. Then I tried a, "Refresh" of Firefox. So far, that seems to have solved the problem!
