Firefox hangs when I try to export bookmarks to an html file under Windows 10.
I suspect the problem is associated with Windows 10, as I run into a similar problem with several of my applications when I try to open or save a file. The app is supposed to display a window showing files and folders but hangs instead. This occurs only with certain applications (including Firefox) but only started occurring when I migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

If this is a Windows issue, ask here; https://support.microsoft.com
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
Nope, I tried it with and without networking (network connection isn't needed to export my bookmarks). Neither session worked. It just hangs when I try to export my bookmarks anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though. I do get the sense there's some conflict with a background process somewhere. My frustration is more with Microsoft than with Mozilla, but I had hoped this problem wasn't unique to me and that you guys might have a workaround.
I haven't heard of this before. Have you posted at Microsoft yet?
Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.
