HOW CAN i FIND OUT THE SOURCE OF AN EMAIL
On my previous email server I just had to right click an email and click on properties to find out where the email had come from I cant do this in thunderbird. Why?

We need to mend your Inbox. That help is giving you a different way to get to View Source which isn't really what you are looking for. Ctrl+u will show the message source.
But the first thing to sort out is why you can't find the "From:" column. The "From:" column satisfies my need to identify untrustworthy senders in 99.9% of cases.
View|Headers|All is another useful switch, but most of us wouldn't choose to have it switched on all the time; it fills the screen with largely unnecessary data.
The addon suggested by gnospen is interesting, but it seems to affect just the display within the message pane, and I think that you want to see it in the Inbox - and even if I'm wrong here, you should at least be able to choose whether or not to see the sender in you Inbox. It ought to be there by default.
Please post a screenshot of your Inbox. If you use Windows you should have the Clippings Tool provided by Microsoft to simplify the process.

No I want to know the email address of the sender used to get this on my last email server by right clicking the email and then clicking properties.
The 'FROM' column should say who it is from.
This will be either the display name you have selected in your address book or the display name added by the sender or the email address if sender did not add it or if you have not selected it in your address book.
When you select an email to read, the FROM info will either show:
- the Display Name with a yelow star - in which case hover over the display Name to see email address as a pop up.
- the email address plus name if added by sender and an outlined star.
If you want to see all hidden sender info then do as Matt advised. Alternatively:
select email to read in Message Pane click on the 'More' button and select 'View Source' or 'View' > 'Message Source'
You could also select to see full headers: 'View' > 'Headers' > 'select 'All'

No idea where you are looking but it is there in every Thunderbird window. Maybe a picture will help.
Where it says from on your picture it says subject on mine is this the same as from?
Airmail has shown you where to go to select the From column. I don't know what else can be done to help you.

I suggest you read the whole list and locate "from" in it. If you think it is not there I suggest you post your own picture of the relevant page, so others can see the omission.

Follow the second part of the first post from Toad-Hall:

Double click on the message you want to check the information on and it will open in a new tab in Thunderbird. On that new tab, at the top of the message to the right you will see a button labeled "More" with a down arrow. Click that button and select "View Source." You will get the same panel that you got from "Properties" on your previous email software.

All well and good, but we don't (or shouldn't) need addons just to see standard Thread Pane columns. And Message Source is probably inappropriate to someone who seems to be struggling with the UI.
We need that screenshot. Possibly the "from" option is scrolled out of sight and the OP hasn't recognized the scroll buttons for what they are. Or the "from" is active but crushed out of sight. Either way, the screenshot would let us move forward on this.
Do you have "Sender" or "Correspondents" in the list of columns? Either of these would be useful.
I cant follow the 2nd part of toad hall because I dont know where my more button is.
Hesprit thats it click the more button and I get the senders email address, thanks someone gave me an answer earlier but I never scrolled down so I could not see the senders address thanks to him to, and all the others who have tried to help still working on how to post a picture. Thanks again all.
