I don't know how to pre-set a default. But if you click the tiny square button at the right hand side of the header button row, you get a dropdown list and at the bottom are options to apply the current format to other folders and subfolders. So you should be able to pick one you prepared earlier and apply its layout to your new one.

I worked out how to adjust each one – It just seems unwieldy that each time I create a new folder that I have to tweak it. Was hoping there was a simpler way of doing it.
