Isithangami Sabeseki

Lolu chungechunge lwabekwa kunqolobane. Uyacelwa ubuze umbuzo omusha uma udinga usizo.

I want to uncheck the Use Master Password on my MAC, and am unable to do so because it thinks I have a current password and I don't.

Kuphostiwe

When I try to uncheck "Use Master Password" a pop-out asks for a current password, which I do not have. I've tried passwords that I may have used to set one (although I don't recall ever setting one), and none work. When I leave the "current password" field blank, the only choice about proceeding is to cancel. So, how do I uncheck the "Use Master Password" and stop the pop-down requests for it? Thanks for any help you can provide. I am on a MAC if that helps, so the solution using Tools and options didn't work.

The only way to change any password, or remove it, you will need to provide the current password.

Note: You can reset the Master Password in Firefox, but all data will be removed. This is a security function.

I don't know if this will work with the Master Password active; Password Exporter {web link} This extension allows you to export your saved passwords and disabled login hosts using XML or CSV files that can be imported later.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And one folder in the profile of each user on the computer.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user folders would not be affected.

I don't think it will help to uninstall Firefox, unless your goal is to wipe all of your browser settings completely...

This article describes how to reset/clear the master password: Reset your Master Password if you've forgotten it.
