If you haven't already, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement? (More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode)

Actually, I forgot I had solved the login issue by clearing the history. But now I keep getting an error message on FB when I try to share a post. Although sometimes it will allow me to do so. I get this error message: Sorry, this action isn't available right now

As a security precaution you can't take this action because your computer may be infected with a virus or a malicious browser extension.

Does this problem occur in Safari or is it limited to Firefox?

Yes, I have now found that the sharing issue is on Safari now too. But earlier the login issue was not experienced on Safari.

I have also discovered I can share once from a site then when I try a second time I get the same error message. I am wondering now if this is just a FB issue. But the fact that the error message talks about malware, etc that something has hijacked my browser. I don't have any extensions either.

How secure is your connection?

  • Are you using a wired connection or encrypted wi-fi (non-open wi-fi), so there's little chance anyone could be injecting bad traffic into your Facebook session?
  • Are you connecting directly to Facebook, or using a proxy, filtering software, private VPN, Hola, Tor or any other indirect method?

Secure wifi. Direct connection on desktop to FB. I'm no encountering this same error message from them via my phone. I have added that error message but it won't let me add another photo here.

Is that Safari on iOS?

Perhaps there is something suspicious going on with your wireless router or cable/DSL modem settings. If you power cycle those devices (unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in), will Facebook allow any device to post. I would only try one at a time and log out, in case multiple open connections looks suspicious.

I'm using Firefox on my desktop Mac Mini. I attempted to post a link from an app on my phone and then tried it from the browser on my iPhone. Neither would allow it and gave me that error message. I'll try closing down my router and modem.

Hmm, could it be something in your FB account, some application or setting?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, cache, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I just tried that, still the same issue with a youtube post.

I found this link when I did a search for the error message.

https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=10204400342318468

It seems this was an issue with many people about six months ago. I have also now cycled my router but I still go the same message attempting to share from Youtube. Although, I was able to share other videos just not all. The inconsistency is making this all the more annoying.
