Gray/Transparent White Bar Under Tabs

more options

Heya! So within the last few months I installed a Samsung SSD in my ASUS K60 Laptop and then upgraded to Windows 10 (long story, laptop was sluggish when I tried installing Win10 the first time in July 2015). Around a month or two after all of that, a white bar showed up (see screenshot - the area in the paint-drawn green box) in my Firefox window beneath the Tabs section. Just giving you a reference of things I've changed around the time it appeared.

I only have AdblockPlus and HTTPSEverywhere add-ons activated as you can see in the data below.

Things I have tried: - Updating Firefox to 44.0.1 (latest at this time). - Changing the Theme. - Resetting to the Default Theme. - Disabling Add-ons. - Starting Firefox in Safe Mode. - Disabling Hardware Acceleration in Firefox. - Updating Windows Graphics Drivers. - Refreshing Firefox.

And after all of that, it's still there. I work in IT for a living so I usually help people with their computer problems. For some reason, this just baffles me. I tried doing extensive searching before posting a question, thus all of the things I've already tried. Does anyone have any idea as to how to solve this? I've been dealing with it for around a month or two now but it hasn't bothered me until recently.

Thanks!

Oh, one more thing I neglected to mention: The gray bar "expands" downward (essentially doubling in size vertically) when I enable the bookmarks bar. Hope this helps and I look forward to your replies.

Can you attach a screenshot since the first attempt failed?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

You can check for issues caused by plugins and set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page.

  • plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode

Sorry about that. Guess it didn't attach the first time.

That did it! At first I wasn't excited about having that orange button back, but after some tweaking in the options I got everything I wanted. Thanks again cor-el! Marked above as chosen solution.
