There was a firefox upgrade to version 43.0.2 and since then I have been unable to load images to several websites. On eBay I get an invalid photo (CLEERR002) error message. On Mailchip I get an error message indicating a problem with loading images and on ECWID the images refuse to load at all.

I can load these images using safari so there is not a problem with the image.

I am using OSX 10.9.5

You can check the log in the Web Console for error messages and the Network Monitor (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to see if content fails to load or is possibly blocked.

Use Command+Shift+R to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

Firefox 42+ has a new Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. You can see a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar when you are in private browsing mode that some content is blocked. You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy".

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains. You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images

  • Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.

Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and Anti-Virus software that can block images and other content.

I am not a software developer. I just want to add pictures to my ebay listings and on other websites. I could do this before December 18th but somethings has changes in Firefox that is preventing firefox from loading images to websites

How is the uploading done?

Is that via a "Browse" button like the SUMO website uses to attach images or is a plugin used like Flash or Java or Silverlight or is this done via other ways?

I don't really know. On eBay it is called eBay picture uploader. All I know is that when I log in to eBay using Firefox and go upload a jpg image to a new listing I get an error message. Invalid photo (CLERR002).

On Mail chimp it was a browse function that generated the error.

On Ecwid, it is "add image" - This application does not generate an error message, just a spinning wheel that will run for hours if I let it.

In all cases the image will load if I use Safari.

Last night I upgraded to OSX 10.11.2 but it hasn't solved the problem. We use a Cannon 9000F scanner to create the image and any cropping or editing of the image is done with Adobe Photoshop Elements v8. We have been using this scanner and software for more than a year and have successfully loaded 1,000's of images. The only thing that has changed is the Firefox upgrade which I believe occurred on December 18th

I have managed to load Firefox 42.0 and picture loading works fine so the problem is related to a change that was made in Firefox 43.0.2. For now I will continue with version 42
