Pursuant to December 2015 Adobe Security Bulletin, I wanted to check my previous Shockwave Plugin update and viola! It had already updated to 20.0.0.235 as of 12/08/2015. Great! Having said that, I also noted that beneath the above update was an earlier November 2015 Shockwave 19.0.0.245, still in place . . . . a bit strange, nespau? Am I mistaken, but the new update should entirely replace the old, not install anew and the older version remain status quo? Does not appear to be a problem performance-wise, however, I would appreciate opinions as to whether the latter should be manually removed, or left as is.

See attached Screenshot.

Thanks in advance.

First try restarting Firefox if it was running when the Adobe Flash Player updated. Sometimes the Flash player does not get rid of older version on Windows.

You could use the uninstaller to uninstall the Flash Players and then install the current version. https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Make sure Firefox is not running/closed before uninstalling and installing Flash Player.

Adobe Flashplayer 20.0.0.235 was just released today. Therefore, the Firefox plugin checker has not yet been updated. Once the plugin checker is updated on our end, the old version of Adobe Flashplayer may be automatically removed.

In the meantime, you can manually remove it from the Windows 8 add or remove programs. For information on how to do this, please refer to this Microsoft support page:

This is not why a previous version of Flash Player can still be installed on system. Only part of that is true is the https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ page may not be updated right away for a new Plugin version.
