I've done every step in troubleshooting. Uninstalled firefox completely, running ccleaner + deleting all references to firefox and reinstalling the latest. Tried normally starting it and in safe mode, both see the crash reporter.

I previously had a work edition installed, one that is prepackaged and didn't allow updates. I'm wondering if there are references left for that.

This is possibly a problem with "Websense Endpoint" software. You can try to disable or uninstall this software for now until there is an update that addresses this issue, so check for such an update.
