Since weeks I get often Sync errors in Firefox 40 (Mac and PC)

I have the actual 40.0.3 Firefox on my MacBook with OS 10.10.5, on my Desktop PC with Windows 8.1 (64-Bit) and on my Android Samsung Galaxy S4 with CM12.0. Sync went OK for a while but since some weeks I often get an error in the bottom line of Firefox on Mac and PC. Sync does work sometimes anyway, it is not always, though. The main error maybe this:

Got exception "[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x804b000a (NS_ERROR_MALFORMED_URI)

I pasted the complete logfile of my PC's sync error (about:sync-log) here:

as it is too long to post here, it wil be truncated.

I don't see the reason for this error, I cannot read/understand it. Maybe here is somebody who can and who could give me a hint about this error and what to do.

This is a bug in Firefox that will be fixed in version 41, expected next week - apologies for the inconvenience - please reach-out if you still have problems after you get this update.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Thank you Mark for this information. Is this bug already fixed in a preview of Firefox I could install? It is hard to wait and I would look for another solution of sync if I knew it werent working...

Hi francwalter, the bug is fixed in Firefox 41 which is currently the "beta" version, so installing that should see the fix. The bug in question is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182366
