hi, in order to know what's going on we probably need more information about the issuer of the failing certificate. please proceed like this: enter chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul into the location bar and in the page that opens, set the server location to "https://www.google.com" in order to retrieve and view the certificate like shown in the screenshot. then please report back with the data of the issued by section of the certificate viewer. thank you!

Several Windows 10 users have reported that on their systems, this issue was caused by parental controls, AKA Microsoft Family Safety.

If you check the Google certificate using Internet Explorer or another browser -- click the padlock in the address bar and follow the links for more information and viewing the certificate -- do you find anything along those lines listed on the certificate in the Issuer/Issued by section?

Okay, then it's worth checking the issuer on a site where you can access the full information. Can you do that on my test page?

I have attached a screen shot for comparison.

Sorry, you got straight into my test page without any certificate error message? I thought you had a more general issue with secure sites, so I was going to have you look at the certificate there. But if your problem only affects google.com, never mind about my site.

Do you want to try renaming the cert8.db file, so that Firefox examines certificates fresh without the influence of any previously saved exceptions? This article has a section on that: Secure connection failed and Firefox did not connect. (You can use Find (Ctrl+f) to look for cert8.db in the page.)

Oh hold on, you visited my site using "Edge". If you visit using Firefox, do you get a certificate error? If so, can you inspect it by using the "I understand the risks" section of the page, "Add Exception" button, then View? You do not need to actually save an exception, just look at the relevant sections of the certificate to see whether they point toward a problem.
