youtube doesn't load at all

Kuphostiwe

For the past 2 days I can't access the YouTube website. I have tried everything in Mozilla's support website but it still doesn't load. What else can I try?

Some troubleshooting to also consider:

  1. Do you have a firewall or an internet filters that might be blocking this site?
  2. Does this happen in a new profile? Profile Manager - Create, remove, or switch Firefox profiles

Will the restart delete every data on firefox?

Refresh will remove customization and put the data in a folder on your desktop called "Old Firefox Data"-> Recovering important data from an old profile

Restart will just restart the browser. Unless you have a setting that removes data/history/cookies/updates from the profile on closing the browser, than it should not have an affect.

I don't have a firewall installed except the one windows 8.1 have. I refreshed and restarted firefox and have created a new profile but still Youtube doesn't load. Recently, I've noticed that sometimes Youtube does load but only for a short period of time. What else can I do?

There was a recent update last week to Adobe Flash player, the default player in Firefox for youtube. If you have not changed the default to the HTML5 flash player, check to make sure that Flash is up to date.

Still nothing. I have updated Adobe Flash Player but nothing changed. And https://www.youtube.com/html5 doesn't load either.

You can reduce memory draw by disabling extensions and add-ons if your PC is struggling to cope. If you need extra memory to run YouTube, start Firefox in Safe Mode and observe the memory usage. While in Safe Mode, extensions and themes are disabled and you should notice a significant improvement in memory boost.

If there is a significant difference in memory usage between safe mode and normal mode, then you could try disabling or uninstalling some extensions and add-ons.

For more information on starting Firefox in Safe Mode and on how to find which extension or themes are using the most memory, see Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.
