1. clicking on tools causes all tabs in row to jump back and forth across the screen. 2. data entry into search line or web address line to be backwards, i.e. right to left. apparently caused by some malware or trojan virus. Can't seem to remove it. This is being entered on my other computer as I can't think backwards. John

You may have hit the Shift key by accident while cutting text via Ctrl+X. You can flip the bidi text direction from right-to-left to left-to-right with "Shift+Ctrl+X".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I think there is a Firefox setting for this, but I forget where.
